| Carver's Hostel
The hostel is a home away from home. Aware of the special
needs and requirements of the students, who come from
far flung places to St. Stephen’s School, Carver’s Hostel
tries to provide a conducive ambience for healthy growth
and learning. The hostel management takes pain to give
its students a neat and clean environment and a comfortable
place to live in. There are wardens and attendants on
duty round the clock. Architecturally, the hostel is
aesthetically laid out with plenty of open space and
a lot of greenery. The rooms are comfortable, fitted
with modern amenities. The residents of the hostel are
encouraged to live in harmony, like one big family,
lending each other a helping hand when required, and
mutually cooperating to make hostel life a rich and
fruitful experience. Carver’s hostel provides an ideal
atmosphere for a healthy all round development of personality,
and is a launching pad for a glorious career ahead!

Admission:
· All rights of admission to the hostel are reserved
with the Principal. No students can claim admission
as a right.
· Orders/decisions notified from time to time by the
management will be binding on the residents.
· Admission shall be sought afresh in every academic
session. A student may be refused admission if his conduct
during the earlier stay was not satisfactory or he was
a defaulter.
· An incorrect statement/address in the hostel admission
form would result in cancellation of admission and confiscation
of securities.
· Only bonafied students will be permitted to avail
hostel facilities.
General Rules:
· The hostel (including mess and common room) shall
close during vacations for a specified period. The resident
will vacate the hostel rooms within 48 hours of termination
of their examinations.
· Any resident staying more than 10 days during holidays
will be charged double the normal charges.
· Parents can telephone their wards on Saturdays/ Sundays
and holidays. No calls will be entertained during the
week days except in cases of emergencies.
· Parents can take their wards home on Second Saturdays.
· Any violation of rules and regulations will be subject
to strict disciplinary action. All residents of the
hostel shall be bound to observe hostel rules. Residents
should be properly dressed at all times in the common
room, dining room or hostel office.
· Residents should not keep cash or jewellery, mobile
phones or other valuables in their rooms.
· Every resident shall be responsible for the safety
of the furniture/ other articles given to him. Furniture
is not to be removed from one room to another.
· The telephone is meant for incoming calls or office
use only. In case of emergency the resident may use
the phone with the permission of the hostel warden.
Any resident misusing the telephone shall be fined suitably.
· Acts of indiscipline, misbehaviour, gambling and use
of intoxicants in the hostel premises including rooms
shall be severely dealt with. A resident guilty of these
shall be liable to strict disciplinary action that could
include expulsion.
· Any student opening a room by breaking the hostel
lock or seal or window-pane etc. shall be liable to
a minimum fine of Rs 500. In case this kind of conduct
is repeated by the student, he will be liable for expulsion
from the hostel.
Food :
· The school dining hall is equipped with comfortable
seating plan for a hot, sit down meal. A fully automated
kitchen ensures clean, hygienic, balanced and nutritious
food for both students and staff.
· A resident shall have meals in the dining hall only.
· Residents will not go into the cooking area.
· No meals will be served in the rooms except in cases
of illness or any justifiable reason and that too, with
the permission of the warden.
· Complaints, if any, against the conduct of the servants
may be made by the residents to the warden in writing.
No complaint about mess/canteen etc will be entertained
if the complainant himself/herself is the defaulter.
Electricity:
· Residents are not allowed to use more than the required
electricity. They must switch off the lights/fans while
leaving the room. The defaulter will be fined a minimum
of Rs 25/- for each offence.
· Residents are not permitted to use/keep any kind of
electrical appliance such as electric heater, electric
rods, electric irons, table fans, TV sets etc.
· Residents will not tamper with or damage the electrical
and sanitary installations. The cost of repair/replacement
due to any damage done to them will be realised from
the residents in addition to the fine which may be imposed
by the warden.
Games and Sports:
To keep the resident physically fit they are encouraged
to take part in outdoor and indoor games in the evening.
The gymnasium hall of the hostel is equipped with modern
equipment.
Medical Facility:
We have a well equipped first aid facility in case
a student suffers a minor injury at school, it will
be provided by a trained attendant who will be available
at all times. In case of an emergency the child will
be rushed to General Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh
or PGI, Sector 12, Chandigarh, and parents will be immediately
informed.
Note:
All residents are required to clear their hostel, mess,
canteen and other dues and obtain a no dues certificate
before they take their examinations, and again all their
dues must be cleared before they vacate the hostel failing
which other disciplinary action, including forfeiture
of their securities, may also be taken.
