St.
Stephen's School, Chandigarh and St. Stephen's School,
Togan celebrated "Van Mahotsav" on July
27, 2007 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The day began
with a slogan writing competition and poster making
competition. A special assembly was conducted. A trophy
called "Carver Cup for Environment Studies"
will be presented to the house which acquires the
highest points for the protection of environment.
This trophy had been shipped from United Kingdom by
Mr Roger Carver and Ms Esme sometime back as they
were highly impressed by the stress on protection
of the environment by our schools.
A
function was organised on this occasion and we were
honoured to have Mr. Ishwar Singh, Deputy Conservator
of Forests and Director of Environment amongst us
as the chief guest. Many trees were planted to commemorate
the occasion. This was followed by an entertainment
programme to highlight the importance of protecting
plants. The function culminated in the Stephenian
family taking a pledge to save trees and plant more
- all this under the able guidance of Mr. Harold Carver,
the Principal of St. Stephen's School, Chandigarh.
